ADELE HEYDENRICH
FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT
There is a version of Adele Heydenrich's story that reads like a highlight reel: journalist, entertainment production executive, commander of $100M+ households, founder of a beloved children's boutique, philanthropist, single mother by choice. All of it is true. But the throughline isn't the résumé — it's the pattern. Given a choice between the easy path and the right one, she does not pick easy.
She founded Dragon Crest Group because she kept running into the same gap from every seat she'd held — in the newsroom, a production office, and inside the households of some of the most private families in the world: brilliant people surrounding a principal, and no single person tying it all together. Most principals aren't short on talent around them — lawyers, accountants, estate staff, publicists, each excellent in their own lane. What's rare is someone fluent across all of it, who can see the whole picture well enough to flag a problem before it becomes one. Dragon Crest Group exists to be that single point of oversight.
Adele was born in South Africa and studied journalism in the UK before moving to the US as an entertainment journalist, writing for South African, Australian, and American publications. She built a fast, international career — contributing editor at GQ by age 23, with bylines in The Hollywood Reporter and People. That instinct carried her from the newsroom into the industry itself, from an assistant role at Paramount Pictures to VP of Creative Affairs and eventually Executive Vice President at a film production company based at Warner Brothers.
From there, that same precision carried her into an arena where the stakes were higher and the margin for error was zero. Over more than a decade, she rose through increasingly senior roles — Estate Manager, Director of Residences, Chief of Staff — commanding households across Los Angeles, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Beverly Hills, Manhattan, Nashville, Orlando, and the Bahamas, for principals ranging from an A-list Oscar-winning actor to a Grammy-winning musician to the CEO of a major Hollywood studio. She held sole operational authority over a real estate portfolio exceeding $125 million, generated $1M+ in annual revenue for one principal's household operation, and built the manuals, staffing structures, including security details and infrastructure that protect a household's value year-round. She has produced events at every scale — from six-guest dinners for Academy Award winners to a 800-guest theme park buyout — curated gifting programs for UHNW clients every holiday season and architected a 48-person private retreat for the leadership team of a publicly traded company.
In 2023, she and her son, Grayson James, opened a children's boutique, The Gray Dragon, in the Pacific Palisades — a twenty-year dream — built and run by Adele herself: e-commerce, marketing, buying, and every operational detail, as sole proprietor. Serving UHNW families, celebrities, and tech leaders, including the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Archewell Foundation who partnered with the store to donate clothing, books, and toys to Children's Hospital Los Angeles and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in the UK.
It grew quickly enough to warrant expanding into the storefront next door. Then, in January 2025, a wildfire tore through the community. She evacuated her son and two other children whose parents she couldn't reach, got them to safety, then went back alone for the family dog — on foot for most of the way, By the time it was over, the fire had taken their home, their business, and their car. But it did not take her resolve.
Today, Adele and her son have resettled in Westlake Village, where Dragon Crest Group is now based. He is thriving in his new school where she serves on the school's newly established Parent Guild, following her earlier role on the Parents' Council at St. Matthew's Parish School in the Pacific Palisades.
Out of that rebuild came Dragon Crest Group, where Adele serves as Founder and Principal Consultant. It is everything she has learned running productions, UHNW households, and a business of her own — brought under one roof, with a far sharper filter for who she lets in the room.
She does not follow the crowd, she does not perform loyalty to people who don't deserve it, and she does not intimidate easily — not from a burning mountain, and not from a boardroom. That same resolve is what her clients rely on: someone who will hold the line on their behalf, ask the uncomfortable question before it becomes a costly one, and protect their interests even when it isn't the easiest conversation to have.
She is, by nature and by necessity, a builder — having built a life twice over. She's just getting started on the third one.
